Julie Acosta is a premier hair & make-up artist located in the heart of the Silicon Valley. Julie Acosta has served Bay Area women and men for over thirteen years now, with results worth boasting about. Her mission is to provide you with excellent service and a comfortable environment by offering a varied selection of services.
Julie strives to be on the cutting edge of coloring and cutting techniques and strongly believes in continually educating and pushing herself to be at the forefront of the beauty industry.
Julie is an artistic spirit who loves what she does and likes to think of hairdressing as an expressive art form. Originally from the San Jose area, Julie has been working in the Salon industry for over 13 years. She graduated from California Cosmetology College in 1998. Her roots first began at Progressions Salon, located in South San Jose at Oakridge Mall. After 3 years there she decided it was time for a change and moved to Salon Palais in the Camden area. She stayed there for just over 5 years, until it finally closed in Spring 2006. It was here she met many of her existing clientele. Shortly after the closing of Salon Palais, Julie joined Diva's Salon in April of 2006. Although working at Diva's was a fun experience, she decided to join the Hairchitects team in August of 2007 with familiar face and salon owner Michelle Arellano, with whom she worked with while at Salon Palais.
Constantly staying current with the trends, Julie is always furthering her education by attending the latest hair shows and contemporary classes. She strives to be a good listener to her clients and really find what works best for them. Some of her specialties include cutting, color correction, extensions, highlighting, up-do's and wedding/formal styles. She has training with bonded hair extensions and has been doing them for 4 years. She is a master at edgy cuts and A-line bobs. She is also very skilled behind the make-up brush. In November 2011, Julie participated in the Redken Exchange program and became a Certified Redken Haircolorist. Julie is available for in-salon appointments as well as on-sight services such as photo shoots and weddings. Julie has been my stylist for about 4 years and she rocks! I get perfect, shapely layers every time and my highlights always look natural. What I like best, is the cut works in any style I try for straight, curly, beachy, up-do...Even when I do a really crappy job st lying my hair, it's not that bad because the cut is super! I also bring my 2 kids and husband to Julie for their hair cuts.

Michelle, Courtney and Danielle were absolutely FABULOUS! We had been working on looks and styles for months and every one of my girls, Mom included, walked away ecstatic. We all looked beautiful. Make up artists Julie and Sacheen made us all look like models and hair and make up both photographed amazingly. I love this place! I started going to hairchitects a few years ago because the intern we had just hired referred me to her stylist Julie.I adored her hair it always looked good so I wanted to go wherever she was going. The 20% for new customers was also a great incentive.
I have long straight hair that's very manageable. While I like style, most days I don't do much to my hair, as long as I get some lift at the roots I'm happy. Julie's haircuts look good for months. I repeatedly get compliments on my hair even on days when I only get a chance to dry shampoo and finger comb.

Julie did an excellent job on my hair, my maids of honor, and flower girls hair for my wedding on March 28, 2009. All of us kept getting compliments on how well our hair looked all day (and even now while looking at the pictures). She is professional and does excellent work. I highly recommend her to anyone getting married!

Julie Acosta has been cutting my hair for over a year and a half. She is awesome. All the girls that work at Hairchitects are really friendly, and have great style. Julie is really professional and knows what she's doing. I used to get my hair cut at the cheap places, but NEVER AGAIN! My hair always comes out perfect every time. The salon is really cool and modern. I like to change up my hair once in a while and Julie is great with suggestions and knows how to make it look good. I highly recommend Julie!

I found Julie while searching for a make-up artist and hair stylist for my wedding. Being Asian, it's hard to find someone who knows how to put on make-up that make you look good. Julie did a GREAT job on both hair and make-up for me, and my bridesmaids. Her prices are budget friendly and she talks you through her process to make you feel at ease. I highly recommend her, she's great at what she does!
She's also been my hairstylist ever since my wedding in 2008.

Was able to make my appointment pretty quick.
Loved the salon..very comfy feel to it. Everyone there was super nice!
Julie didn't make me wait long at all. I told her what I was looking for, showed her a few pics but basically let her take control. For the color, I wanted something warm for the winter and a fun cut/style that wasnt going to take too much off the length.
She is very knowledgeable and knew exactly what look I was going for and knows what is going to look good. The outcome? A really great style and color that I have been getting tons of compliments on, even from strangers.
I wanted something chic and fun and that is exactly what I got. I cant wait to go back in the spring when I want to do fun and blond!
Her prices are very fair and even if you don't check, she checks her website for her current specials to make sure your get whatever special she is offering.
I highly recommend her and wont be going anywhere else!

Julie has been doing my hair for over 5 years. I constantly receive complements about my hair because Julie always does a great job. She also recently did my hair and makeup for my wedding. Julie was very honest about what she thought would look best on me and in the end she was right. I loved how my hair and makeup came out and so did my friends and family! I definitely recommend her if you want someone to be honest and who does a great quality job!

I've been living in the Bay for about 8 months now and it has taken me this long to finally find the stylist that works for me.
When you call here to make an appointment the receptionists are very friendly and extremely helpful. I was unsure if who I wanted to go with for my brand new asymmetrical cut and funky colors, the receptionist recommended Julie Acosta to me and BOY was that a perfect recommendation.
I've seen Julie twice now (1st time was for my initial brand new cut/look/style and 2nd time just yesterday for my purple highlight touch ups and trim).
Julie really knows what she's doing when it comes to very creative and fun requests. She honestly made my day with my new cut, cuz I didn't think I could pull off the back being disconnected but she styled it just right. Never have I had a stylist see my vision the way I saw it. :)
The salon itself is very cute and modern. The waiting area has very comfortable sofas and they decorate the place very nicely during each major holiday. They offer water, tea, sodas and snacks while you are there for your appointment.
The owner, Michelle is extremely sweet and helpful. She looks like one of the nicest salon owners I've ever met.
Unless I move extremely far away again, I plan on coming here for a very very long time.
